To all those who helped I would like to say a
huge Thank You for making the Pool Parties the success they were! Everyone
pitched in and made the events run so smoothly that it looked like they
happen every day. For those of you that were not able to attend I will give
a quick recap.
The weather for both evenings was absolutely
beautiful. We had 156 9th graders and 135
family members on Tuesday. The parents met for about an hour in the large
pavilion and received great information from Dr. Stowers concerning new
policies for the schools, Erin Wigginton with wonderful information and
insight concerning the Gear Up program, and Principal Reedy and many of his
staff welcoming the parents and sharing thoughts on what the their students
could expect the first several days of school. We also shared information on
Asset building and sent them home with a sheet listing the
40 Developmental Assets.
On Thursday we hosted 186 6th
graders and 277 family members and with the addition of
school staff we came in right at 500 attendees. Again the parents were given
the chance to hear policy changes from Dr. Stowers, greetings and
information about their students respective schools from the principals and
staff of Dublin and
Pulaski Middle Schools, and we talked with parents about
Developmental Assets and had them do
a very short activity to give them a chance to practice developing assets in
others.
Over the two evenings we went through 27 tubs of
ice cream, 16 cans of whipped cream, and tons of toppings. Good clean
sticky fun for all!
I also want to thank Anthony Akers and his
wonderful staff for providing a safe, clean, and friendly place to hold the
events.
Sincerely,
Lee
